It’s time to send out thankyou cards

Hello

When I was a child my mother would make me write thankyou card to people who gave me gifts. Unfortunately this task now seems to have died along the way.

Let us resurrect this wonderful way of showing appreciation.,. plus it shows our good manners.

Often we are caught out by suprise when someone will give us a gift unexpectedly and we don’t have one for them in return. One of my friends mentioned the other day how guilty they felt when this happened. Sending a thankyou card (even with a small gift attached if you desire) is appropriate and doesn’t show that you forgot/didn’t remember them, it shows your appreciation for their thoughtfulness.

Keep it short and simple. Thankyou cards do not have to be novels or long stories. Be brief, and let them know your true appreciation. Tell them how you loved or were excited by their gift. ..“I was thinking of buying a doodadwhatsit for myself. It was wonderful to receive one from you as a gift.”

Also, you can include something personal about the giver, even if they are not close to you…. “whenever I think of you, I always remember your smile, it lights up the room.”

Use lovely notepaper (chain stores have great notepaper for thankyou gifts) or small cards.

The other benefit of a thankyour card is that the recipient is more likely to give you a gift next time.

cheers

Helen
