Technology to make life easier
Hi
Technology can make our lives easier. Microwave ovens Vs Conventional Ovens. Mobile phones Vs Land lines. The list is exhaustive.
Whilst talking with people, it often comes up that each of them have special technology that they find useful, but don’t often share with others. Today, I want to share a couple of devices that I use, which helps my life enormously. I would love to hear comments and shared thoughts from you!
Two computer monitors. I have two computer monitors set up from my computer, and could never go back to one. On the left is my email/calendar. Available there at all times, no toggling between screens. One of the monitors is also a TV screen (love that technology). I have a TV card in my computer, and I can record shows (same as a VCR or DVD recorder) to watch later.
Skype or any VOIP. These programs are fantastic. A headset with a microphone is really all that is needed. Plugged into the computer, and withe the program, I can talk to people via the internet, at minimal or no cost.
Cordless telephone and headsets. A cordless telephone lets you walk around the house etc, talk in bed, outside in the garden, have the phone near you at all times. Even better is that my cordless home phone has a headset. This way I dont hold the phone between my ear and shoulder when talking and doing something else (I have had a disc fusion in the past due to continued use of this at work). You can clean out your fridge, exercise, multi task, whilst talking on the phone.
All-in-one printer, scanner etc. This multi function centre is very useful, and takes up a lot less space on your computer desk that 3 machines. I scan all my paid bills, important documents, photos etc to my computer (and other electronic storage devices). Easy to find, less paper filing etc.
Now, that is a few of my wonderful devices, let’s hear yours!
Cheers
Helen
